[ Ah, well. What's this now? This is Vlad sourly sipping at a glass of gin at the bar. He's hunched over and silent and staring straight ahead like the bar itself has wronged him deeply. ]
[ Just. Draaaaags a hand down his face. Fuck this, talking obviously isn't going to work. He holds up a finger before wandering off in search of a pen. I'll be nice and say there's one just elsewhere in the common room, and when he returns to the bar he grabs a napkin and begins to write. ]
Taragulg bluyvhng imbultwine
[ then he slides that over, as if it's all the explanation in the world. ]
[ Vlad raises an incredulous eyebrow, but when he looks back at the napkin, he realizes what he's written. His eyes go wide in horror and he just barely keeps from dropping his head flat against the bar surface. He crumples it and throws it. Fuck throwing it in the garbage properly, it just lands wherever.
Then he decides to grab another napkin and try again. This time, he goes for drawing: two rectangles crossing over each other that he then holds up over his mouth as if it's tape sealing his lips shut. ]
[ This is Vlad in the kitchen, surrounded by an array of baking ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, butter, eggs, so on and so forth.
He's reaching for the baking powder that he's laid out on the counter, which, due to his singleminded BAKING BRAIN he's not realizing is encroaching on Omi's space. ]
[Omi's here with so many different batters because he cannot deal with thinking right now. If he's thinking about cooking, if he's doing anything else, then he can't think about how bad that trial went.]
[ Here's Vlad, rummaging around in the kitchen like the little rat that he is. He doesn't think anyone can see him scrounging for snacks, but, well. Here's this very prim and proper sophisticated man who is almost always wearing a suit, hunched over the open fridge door like a gremlin, holding a block of cheese. ]
It hurts to do, really--seeing Jazz snooping around his lap, Skulker dropping Danny into his lap and realizing that Jazz does indeed know about half-ghosts, and, therefore, is likely to have ulterior motives. He really had thought she'd come to her senses, seen that he really was the better father, and it stings to think that it might not be the case.
Having her fight Danny is the only way to find the truth. How else can he possibly prove that she isn't just lying to him, trying to fool him? And that, if successful, he'd also have a weakened Danny he could keep for himself as well, well...that's just a bonus. ]
[It's only a few minutes, but it's a packed couple of minutes.
Vlad is a very strange man. What was with the robot coming out of the portal? There are so many questions. And normally he would be polite about asking after it, but-]
[ well, if Omi's going back to cooking, Vlad is going to relax a little and grab some crackers out of the pantry as Omi suggested. He's in the clear now, right? ]
The castle came with such clandestine passageways when I bought it.

Magabunta lawa.
[ ...oh jesus.
He immediately grabs the bottle of gin and tops off his glass before starting to chug. This is BULLSHIT. ]

[He doesn't know Vlad's cursed. RIP.]

Hey.

Do you need the baking powder or not?

I'll use it after you.

He slams the can of baking powder down on the counter and it sends a tuft of powder up into the air. ]

Did you want some crackers to with the cheese?

Yes, actually, crackers would be quite--
[ oh. oh no. Apparently that eye contact was just a bit too much, because all of a sudden Omi will see--
an expansive basement laboratory, opening up to a variety of tools and weapons...and a pair of siblings that leads to a football field cage match. (16:40 - 19:15)

Why do you have a secret lair?
no subject
I'm still a scientist at heart. I prefer to have a place where I can engage in my own work from the comfort of my home.
no subject
[Don't think he didn't notice what was going on with Jazz. She was suspicious, and she had a reason to be.
Outwardly though, he's relaxed, going back to his cooking.]

[He is not in the clear, Omi just knows when to keep his thoughts to himself. At least neither of the siblings are around here.]
